Four years ago, I (Matthew) took a chance and rejoined JWed (I was formerly on JWed) to look for someone with whom to share my life. It was very hard to "get back in the game" after the loss of my first wife. I didn't really expect to meet anyone, but I figured going this route at least would help me start dating again. I happened to come across the profile of a down-to-earth, smart, and beautiful woman with an athletic build: I didn't think I had a chance. She also lived practically on the other side of the country in Boston, while I was living in Houston. I enjoyed her thoughtful profile enough to give it a shot and message her. A week or so went by, and I didn't hear anything. I just figured she wasn't interested, but I was mistaken. I got a message from her a few days after, which was thoughtful and well-written. I was so impressed by the care she evidently had put into reading my profile and deliberately crafting a response, and I wrote her back in kind. Emails led to Skype, which led to a memorable, but missed chance for me to see Hamilton with her on our first in person date. (I wasn't able to get a ticket in the lottery, while she already had a ticket for the show.) We both knew a relationship was worth pursuing after that weekend. Three years later, we are happily married and just welcomed our son into our family. Rebecca frequently says that our getting married was the best decision she's ever made. It was certainly the best decision I've made and well worth taking the chances I did in signing up and contacting Rebecca. Thank you, JWed, for bringing us together. We really did not have any common acquaintances and would never have met without you!
