Match #: 3693 & 3694
My fiancée and I met online May 2018 on JWed. He was from Chicago, United States and I was from Melbourne, Australia. At first, we both weren’t sure how this would work since we were so far away from each other, but the more we got to know one another through Video chat the more assured we were that this would work. Elliot was not like anyone else I had dated before. He was extremely down to earth and could make me laugh at any given time. He was also very caring and supportive of me through thick and thin.
In October of the same year he booked to see me the following year in February. When we met at the airport it confirmed what we felt about each other. The three weeks we spent together was filled with, joy, laughter and fun. During the time he was visiting me we booked a ticket for me to see him in late March. Saying good bye at the airport was very difficult but we knew it wouldn’t be long before we saw each other again.
I hardly slept the night before I departed from Australia to United States since I was so nervous and excited. I knew it would be a long and tiring trip but I felt it would be worth every moment to see Elliot again. While I was on the plane from Melbourne to L.A. the captain announced there was a fuel problem and we had to make an emergency landing. We braced for landing and landed in New Caledonia, an island just 3 hours away from Australia. We waited a long time to be told what would happen next.
Once I got the reception in the Airport, I told Elliot what had happened. The airport staff at New Caledonia airport announced that we would be staying overnight at a hotel and the next day would know more information about flights. We boarded a bus that would take us to a hotel. I didn’t have reception at that time but was sitting next to a person who did and from what they saw on the maps it seemed that the bus was taking us to place at the end of the island. I thought we would reach the sea! But thank god the bus eventually stopped and arrived at the hotel.
I was in my hotel room when the hotel phone rang. I picked up the phone and heard my fiancées voice on the other line. I didn’t know how he was able to find me. I was in a foreign place. But somehow, he managed to find the hotel I was in by calling the airport and hotel and asking to speak to me. I was very impressed by his resourcefulness!
The next day I heard from Elliot again and found out I would fly that day to Los Angeles. From L.A. I took a plane to Chicago. When I was picking up my luggage, I heard a familiar voice behind me I turned around and saw Elliot. We were so excited to see each other. It had been a long difficult journey but I was so excited to see him and meet his family and friends which I did the next day.
A few weeks later I was sitting on the beach with Elliot when he proposed to me. I said yes and the rest is history.
I am so appreciative to have met Elliot on JWed and am so happy it creates such a great avenue for other singles to meet each other.
We are now in the process of getting married and sharing our life together. I couldn’t ask for a better guy to be married to and I know he feels the same way about me. We would love the opportunity to go to Israel. My nephew is having a bar mitzvah soon and it would be a great chance for Elliot to see Israel as he hasn’t been before and meet my family.
