To be honest, I joined JWed with no expectations whatsoever. In fact, the impetus came from my motherwhobegan signing me up!
Anyway, I completed the registration, and adopted an approach of Îwhatever will be will beâ and embraced a very passive approach to the communication process.
Richard had joined just a few months earlier and was in fact, looking at suspendinghis membership.

contacted me about 2 weeks or so after I joined and asked if Iâd consider a relationship with someone in Seattle given that I was living in Boston. I immediately replied that location was not a factor.

Shortly thereafter however, he e-mailed me to say that he had started seeing someone in Seattle and didnât feel right pursuing two people at the same time. I respected his sincerity, and wished him best of luck.

Some time later, he contacted me again and inquired if I was still available. I jokingly asked if I was second choice! - but said sure. We soon began regular email contact through the JWed network.
After about a week later he asked if he could call. We finally spoke the Thursday night before Pesach. We talked for hours and then again on Friday before Shabbos. Motzei Shabbos he called and midway through the conversation asked if he should fly out to Boston. We made plans for him to come for the last days of Chag.

He came, and met my entire family in the process. Rather daunting but he did quite well. We had a bit of a rocky start - given the natural pressures and expectations. (there were plans for him to go to New Jersey for the Shabbos after Pesach if things didnât work out!). But, we persevered since we knew we liked each other as people, and decided to give the relationship our bestchance.
Generally, the rest of the time went very well, and we made plans for Richard to come back to Boston about 2 weeks later.
At that point I removed my JWed profile.

The second visit went much better that the first!
We realized just how much we enjoyed one another's company and things became very serious.I went to Seattle for Shavuot and we got engaged June 10th!
